THE CITY OF LEAWOOD, KANSAS IS HIRING AN EXPERIENCED CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR
Do you have an eye for detail and take pride in making sure construction work is done right? Are you comfortable working in the field, interpreting construction plans and specifications, and communicating with contractors, engineers, and property owners? If so, the City of Leawood is looking for an experienced Construction Inspector to join our Public Works Department.
As a Construction Inspector, you'll play an important role in protecting the quality and integrity of Leawood's public infrastructure. You'll inspect construction activities involving streets, curbs, sidewalks, storm sewers, right-of-way improvements, and other public infrastructure to ensure work complies with approved plans, specifications, City standards, and applicable requirements. From monitoring construction and documenting daily progress to coordinating materials testing, verifying quantities, and identifying issues in the field, you'll help ensure City projects are constructed safely, accurately, and to the high standards our community expects.
This is more than a job - it's an opportunity to be directly involved in the projects that shape Leawood. Your work will help ensure the City's infrastructure is built to last and continues to support the safety, accessibility, and quality of life of Leawood residents and visitors.
WHY JOIN THE CITY OF LEAWOOD?
At the City of Leawood, we are guided by our core values of Service, Teamwork, Innovation, Culture of Support, and Transparency. As a member of the Public Works team, you'll work alongside engineers, contractors, consultants, and other City staff to help deliver high-quality capital improvement and public infrastructure projects throughout the community.
You'll have the opportunity to spend time where the work is happening—observing construction, solving problems, verifying compliance, and helping ensure projects meet the City's expectations from construction through final inspection. You'll be part of a collaborative team where sound judgment, attention to detail, accountability, and a commitment to quality public infrastructure are valued.
